The new 10 metre high bronze statues of Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo recently unveiled in Durban were created by South African sculptor Lungelo Gumede.
Lungelo Gumede is a well known KwaZulu Natal based artist known for creating sculptures of various celebrities and heritage.
The statues have been placed in prominent locations to honour ANC (African National Congress) struggle heroes, Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo.
Nelson Mandela’s statue is positioned outside the Moses Mabhida Stadium and Oliver Tambo’s statue stands on Durban’s popular beachfront.

Welcome to the Eales Notley art Studio website, I hope you enjoy viewing the fantastic art.
Lynette Eales Notley and Desiree Notley are both members of the North Coast Artists.
Lynette is a self taught artist who sketched in pencil. She attended some art lessons with Miss Ritter at her art studio in Durban, when she was younger, to learn how to add colour to her art. She gained her interest in art from her father, who was a very good artist. Lynette always gives praise to the Lord for all of her achiements.
It looks like art runs in the family and Desiree chose art as a subject when she attended Danville Girls High School. On completing her studies at Danville Girls High School, she continued with her love for art and attained an art diploma at CFAD Durban.
